Meudon Hotel
Mawnan Smith,
Falmouth,  TR11  5HT

Nestling on the south Cornwall coast in thickly wooded countryside between the famous ‘Packet’ harbour of Falmouth and romantic Helford estuary, Meudon is a unique family run luxury hotel set in a timeless sub-tropical valley
leading to its own private sea beach at Bream cove.

Meudon takes its name from the nearby farmhouse built by Napoleonic prisoners of war and called after their eponymous home village in the environs of Paris.
Formerly a private mansion built at the turn of the century, Meudon incorporates two 17th century
coastguard cottages, making an unusual blend of a gracious Cornish country house and a modern hotel.

The original building, for which the gardens were so lavishly laid out, were never finished – only the chapel.

Our refurbished dining room

The hotel was developed by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pilgrim, and is now managed by their son Mark and daughter Gaye – the third generation hotelier in this lovely Helford river area.

Standing amidst hundreds of acres of National Trust owned and protected coastal farmland, Meudon presents an haven of peace and beauty where guests can enjoy unashamed luxury, a pleasant social ambience, excellent cuisine, a choice of fine wines and traditional standards of personal service.

May 2012
Meudon is currently going through a revamp and redecoration, we like to feel at the moment we have our foot in the past but our eye on our future. We will very soon have new photographs of the updated rooms which will give a new feel to our hotel and we hope that it will be the pathway to our future and enjoying greater custom from our villagers and
local people who at present are not using our hotel to the extent that they might enjoy.

We would like everyone that lives in mawnan smith and surrounding area to know
that we are listening to them. A lovely warm welcome awaits them for future great Sunday lunches, morning coffees/tea, weekday lunches that are not only very tasty
but also affordable, good value for money.
All of this in the most unique location to sit, walk and restore the soul.

Pop in for a morning tea or coffee and have a great walk down our valley to Bream Cove.

Mid Year Newsletter 2012

You will know that here at Meudon peace and tranquility is the norm but just recently we have been extremely busy. Let me explain.

Alex Polizzi of the “Hotel Inspector” approached my brother Mark at the beginning of the year to take part in her Channel 5 programme. During the filming of the programme I joined the team to help restore our beautiful old Cornish Manor house, public areas and the bridge - the gardens as always are glorious.

The TV programme was aired on 9th August at 9pm, we thought you would be interested to learn of our fifteen minutes of fame!

My Dad having been at the helm since 1964 has now retired; Mark and I will endeavour to continue his ethos with an eye to the future. Our hospitality and the Meudon team have not changed you will still see the same faces here Mike, Emma, Rita, Dave, Shaun, Wayne, Conrad, Nick and Sue.

Alex Polizzi has been the catalyst for the Meudon rejuvenation . Our new rooms give an air of contemporary taking inspiration from coast and garden in their design. Email is a great tool but we would like you to see colour photographs of the newly refurbished rooms. Please call 01326 250541 for our colour printed newsletter.

Log onto our website or facebook page to see in colour what we have been doing.
