CHURCHES

Please join us for refreshments after these services in the Parish Church. We use mainly Fairtrade goods in Church. Also Fairtrade goods are available to buy.

As we are now in the Lent period Lent Soup Lunches will start on Friday 3rd March to Friday 8th April inclusive at 12.30pm in the Chapel Schoolroom. All proceeds to Christian Aid.

CLUBS & GROUPS


Mawnan WI

Our Monthly Meeting will be held on Thursday 9th March and we would like to welcome members and visitors to the talk about the work of The Samaritans. This will take place in the Mawnan Memorial Hall at 7.15pm followed by some wonderful refreshments as made by the lovely WI ladies. The new programme starts in April and will be posted on the WI notice board. New members welcomed. The subscription for the year is £39. In addition to the monthly meeting we arrange visits to the theatre and lunches at various restaurants around the area which are fantastic. We also get together on the 4th Tuesday of every month for morning coffee at Cornish Maid, and also have a monthly ‘Stitch and Knit’ session’. We hold events supporting local charities and have great fun. Why not come along and join us!


Mawnan Film Club

Screening this March in the Memorial Hall on Friday 24th March at 7.30pm. Baz Luhrman’s 2001 film `Moulin Rouge!’. Christian, a young poet in 1899 Paris, finds himself plunged into a passionate but ultimately tragic love affair with Satine, the highest paid star at the Moulin Rouge. Their romance is played out against the infamous club - a meeting place of high life and low, where slumming aristocrats and the fashionable rich mingled with workers, artists, Bohemians, actresses and courtesans. £5 for new members, which includes one year’s membership fee, and £3 for existing members. (Please note, those who have been members for over one year will need to renew their subscription).


Mawnan History Group

The Mawnan History group will be presenting an illustrated talk by one of its members entitled, “Latymer Evacuation to Mawnan Smith 1940 -1942”. Talk to beheld in the Memorial Hall on Wednesday 8th March at 7.30pm promptly. Entry for visitors £3.

Mawnan Friendship Club

1st March ‘Those were the Days’ with Mary Bradley. 8th March Bring and Buy, bingo.

15th March slide show with Alan Cox trips on The Thames. 22nd March lunch at the Gem Fish and Chips.

29th March Musical Duo with Luce Clothe Roe and Alice Trewhella.

All over 60’s welcome to come and join in, in the village hall at 2.00pm


Penwarne Gardens We have reached that time of the year when the lovely gardens of PENWARNE are open for a day to raise funding for a charity. This year all money raised will go to the Mawnan Anvil Trust.The gardens will be open from 2.00pm ‘till 5.00pm on 9th April. Don’t forget your cameras and bring your friends as it’s a fabulous garden to enjoy.

COFFEE MORNING

Table top sale in aid of Falmouth Hospital will take place on Easter Saturday 15th April 10am to 12pm in the Mawnan Memorial Hall.

Get your thinking hats on and design a beautiful Easter bonnet for the Easter Bonnet Parade and competition. There will also be raffles, cake stalls, Hot Cross Buns, and the outstanding Bacon Butties as serviced by the lovely people of the village. For those of you wanting a table please book NOW with Marion 250267 or Margaret 250066 as they sell out fast!

Mawnan Bowls Club

Mawnan Bowls is open to all ages, it is great fun and very enjoyable. SO COME AND GIVE IT A TRY.


Mawnan Smith Lawn Bowls Club OPEN DAY APRIL 20TH 11 - 4 PM. All are welcome.

If you cannot make the Open Day, members will be at the Club every Tues afternoon at 2pm from the 11th of April through to the end of September. Alternatively give them a call to arrange a more suitable time.
